Quartzsite 2022, what a difference a pandemic brings.
Greasewood is no more so the scramble to find a replacement was quite the whirlwind. We settled on Rice Ranch South as it is close to the all important
shopping opportunities. Other changes included La Mesa RV closed, Bad Boys Café closed, Sweet Darlene’s gone and several business’s changing hands. Look for
more changes next year, Quartzsite is soon to be a destination not to be missed
per the Chamber of Commerce. Rice Ranch South proved to work this year as it
included a gourmet Saloon and Grill, a Mexicana restaurant, and FHU for those that wanted them. We were
able to the take over the boon-docking space from the LA ATV Club as was our
custom at Greasewood. Four of us chose to boon-dock while five opted for the
FHU. Attending this years rally were Mike and Marcy Parker, John and Penny
Srack, Larry LaBrack, Wayne and Lynn Selden, Tom and Maryann Cathy, Archie and
Elaine Archer, Jim and Diane Nelson, Larry and Sandy Rice and Richard and
Shirley Melendez.
The morning fire and snacks each morning saw light attendance
while social hour and the evening fire brought out everyone. A big shout out to
those that brought wood and those who purchased wood from Woodstock firewood as
well as those that gave to the tip jar.
Several visitors joined us for the Thursday Parker Pizza Pole Pie Party
including Jan and Wendy Chamberlain, Bruce and Sue Harriott and Jim and Patty
Tinley. Friday was Karaoke night at The Horney Toade Saloon and Richard and
Shirley were again the star performers. The planned Saturday night Hot Dog
Cook-off was postponed until next year as several couples had to return home
early for a variety of reasons.
Prior to the SS event a few of us stayed off Plomosa Road with the Boomers. Beautiful, peaceful area with gorgeous sunsets.
Also, National Escapees held the "Party on Plomosa" with entertainment and food. Not sure how many people attended but there was a heck of a lot !!
