Holiday Pot Luck Party

 Once again we gathered at Champagne Village to celebrate the holidays. The room was filled with chatter catching up with old friends and some new friends. 

Welcome to John and Penny Srack to the Chapter. 

So nice to see some of our Honorary Members, such as Clark and Betty Paxton and Ed and Doris Kalenda.

 Speaking of Honorary members, Don and Nell Regnier were officially designated as Honorary members, Honorary status is given to members who have "hung up the keys" for personal or safety reasons or a surviving spouse of a deceased member who will no longer be able to travel in an RV. They no longer pay dues and are welcome to attend all SS events. The bonds of friendship don't end as members move to the new phase in their life.

Mike Formico was presented with a Certificate of Appreciation for serving as Chapter President for the last 3 years and he was happy to pass the symbolic gavel to the 2022 President, Larry Rice. Thank you Mike for your leadership and commitment to the Chapter. 

We had fun watching as people approached the gift table to take their pick. Some browsed slowly around the table checking them all out before taking one. Some went for big gifts, some for small gifts, some determined their choice by the wrapping paper, bow or gift bag. 

However, the biggest gift was left for last. Doug and Sara were intrigued, as we all were, with what it could be. Only TIME will tell 😃

Lake Skinner in Temecula

Eight rigs gathered at Lake Skinner for a rally hosted by Jim and Diane Nelson, under warm sunny skies and cool nights.

Monday, after everyone set up, we had Happy Hour while we watched the sky over the lake painted with different shades of orange. Then, we cozied around the  warm campfire.

Morning coffee and snacks were shared around the Nelson's rig. Then, a group of guys went golfing while the rest enjoyed walks around the beautiful park or just relaxed in the sun.

On Wednesday, Diane and Jim presented a blind wine tasting. Four different reds and four different whites were sampled by the group.

There was a rating system.

1=I like it. Would purchase it

2=pretty good. Might purchase it

3=fair. Probably would not purchase it

4=no way. Would not purchase it.

The wine with the highest score (least desired) turned out to be the highest cost wine of the lot. The wine with lowest score (most liked) was actually non alcoholic Martinelli sparkling cider. The conclusion was this group knows little about wine but had a a lot fun sampling them. 

Wine tasting was followed by a good ol Shanty Shaker pot luck that was enjoyed by everyone.

A few rigs had to head home on Thursday. The remaining members enjoyed playing corn hole, bike riding or just relaxing. Speaking of corn hole, a discussion was held as to how the game of bean bags became known as corn hole and is now an organized sport worthy of being watched on ESPN ??

 

A rally wouldn’t be complete without going out to eat at least once. Don’t want to lose the reputation of being called LEOs.

Thanks to Diane and Jim Nelson for hosting the rally. If you have not yet hosted a rally, it's time to step up and take a turn. Ask a previous host to partner with you and help you with  the planning. The club functions with volunteers and EVERYONE needs to take a turn.
