Escapades in Wyoming

Submitted by Mike Parker: Escapade 60 Let the Party begin!

A big shout out to all the volunteers that put this together in a short time after the 2020 reset. Marcy and I attended the Tetons Hangout at Briggs, ID and made our way to the Escapade in Rock Springs, WY. to coordinate the early check-in. We met up at Walmart with 6 Shanty Shakers and friends (the Garcia’s, Archer’s, Sand’s, Lyon’s, Thomsa’s Srack’s) and caravaned to the Sweetwater Fairgrounds. To be fair the weather can only be described as brutally HOT, between 90 and 100 every day, and WINDY from time to time. The first two days were spent running the air conditioner and looking for shade.

The usual 4:00 happy hour was hosted by the Lyon’s the first day and the Lupton's on the second day. We added to our group Jan and Wendy from Chino, Penny and John from Aguanga, and the Shanty Shaker Escapade volunteers the John and Debbie Lupton, Bruce and Sue Herriott and Marty and Peggy McCauley

The first day kicked off with free donuts and coffee in the only air conditioned hospitality building, checking in, opening ceremonies and finished up with a magic show in the Big Tent.

Marcy and Mike set up the chapter table and just by chance JoJoba Hills set up next to us. We had Southern Calif covered! A big shout out to the Archer’s, Lyon’s and the Sand’s for pitching in on hosting the table. The Archer’s also brought the banners and returned them to San Diego, Thank You.

The following days were filled with shopping the market, informational classes, sightseeing the surrounding area, meeting new people, visiting the food trucks and staying cool and hydrated. The evening inside music was overtaken by the heavy winds but the outside music with free drinks was a huge success. We got together for our LEO’s at the Chill Grill Diner, Log Inn steak house, and the Santa Fe Southwest grill. All very highly recommended and all came through with great food and great company.

We all then headed out to either home or various summer adventures. A good time was had by all!

Thank you Mike and Marcy for representing the Shanty Shakers on the Row of Chapters and acting as parking liaisons and host's ! Great job !
