Pechnaga RV Resort and CARE Auction

What happened to the nice warm weather that was forecast? During our first Happy Hour, we wore jackets and broke up early because it was so cool (where was the fire pit?). Nevertheless, we were so happy to be away from home with our RV buddies and be free of masks because nearly all of us were fully vaccinated and outdoors. Hopefully, things are returning to normal.

Twelve rigs showed up at Pechanga RV Resort in Temecula. Brian and Barbara D joined in during their annual stop in San Diego and before heading way out east. John and Sue Ford felt comfortable enough to return to group activities and it was so nice to see their smiling faces again. We had a few visitors checking us out, Larry La Brack and Iris Ann. We do hope they felt welcome and enjoyed themselves.

Monday was a free day so a small group started the day with a round of golf. Several others headed into Old Town Temecula to check things out.

Our annual trip to Temecula wouldn't be complete without a stop at Richie's Diner. So on Tuesday, off we went. We were accommodated in a screened in outdoor room. The meal was yummy as usual. The end was capped off with an ice cream sundae for Lynn S while the waitresses sang their cute little version of Happy Birthday.

On Wednesday morning we had a presentation from Greg G from Sky Med. He explained the benefits of their organization. Several members were already enrolled in SkyMed or one of their competitors and a few members took the plunge and enrolled after the presentation. We enjoyed box lunches from Subway that Greg provided for the group.

The highlight of the rally was of course, the annual Auction to benefit the CARE facility in Livingston Texas. Larry Rice stepped up to be the auctioneer and did a great job pumping up the bids and moving things along.

Clark and Betty Paxton, the most senior honorary members of the Chapter, didn't want to miss out on the fun and drove up for the day. Betty was sure to bid on the smallest boxes because “good things come in small packages” (and she said they have no room in their rig for anything else). A final count of the donations will be announced soon.

Birthday celebration with Sparkling Cider at Happy Hour

Thank you to Mike and Mary F for hosting the rally. See you all at next years auction!
