It felt so good to be back in the RV and seeing friends again. Arrival was on Sunday and after getting settled in the rally was started off as usual with a Happy Hour. The weather was sunny and temps in the mid 80s.
The wind started to pick up on Monday but that couldn't hold down this group. Several of the men golfed in the morning and had a light lunch at the snack bar. Unfortunately the resort's cafe and outdoor pool area were not yet open due to the virus restrictions. In the afternoon, Brian and Barbara Downing drove over from Casa Grande, AZ to visit one of their favorite groups of the people. It was a 3 hour drive one way. They did their rounds then joined in to the official shuffleboard tournament. It was good competition and a lot of laughs. Who knew that Shirley and Richard Melendez could out shuffle everyone and won the tournament. During Happy Hour Diane Nelson the rally host, presented the winning prize, a bottle of wine.
Tuesday morning, a few of the women braved the windy golf course while Ken Pace taught some of the guys how to play pickle ball. Several members of the group brought their e-bikes and explored the area. No grass growing under their feet. The afternoon was spent playing cards or games in one of the covered areas. By now protection from the wind was needed. The temperatures dropped and with wind gusts up to 25 miles per hour.
Thanks to Diane and Jim Nelson for hosting the rally. Everyone really enjoyed the morning breakfast of fruit, hard boiled eggs and muffins and the planned fun activities. It was an outstanding rally !!
