After all...it's Quartzsite !!

Submitted by Mike Parker

We need to give a big Shout Out to Jim and Sharan Harrison for the 7 big boxes of clean, cut up, 2 by 4s they brought to this years Quartzsite Rally. With the other wood brought we had enough for morning and evening fires all week. Canadian Woodsman Dave Kramer and his wife Jeanie were missed this year due to medical reasons, Is that an real excuse? but we made good use of the ax they donated.
The weather was tough Monday and Tuesday with the wind but Wed on turned perfect. We had 18 rigs during the week and 3 day visitors. The official dates this year were 1/23 – 1/27 and it of course turned into a come and go rally 1/19 -1/29, as it should. The 8 o'clock morning coffee and snacks were enjoyed by the guys as the lady's just smiled in their warm rigs, 40/50 degrees being a little much.

Breakfast at Bad Boys Cafe or free pancakes and  coffee at La Mesa RV got everyone in the mood to tackle the strolling and shopping at the Big Tent. The walk under Interstate 10 bridge made sure everyone got their exercise.

3o'clock brought us back together for social hour to plan where to have dinner. The attempt to have us all at Silly Al's for pizza and adult beverages did not work as planned, not the best idea I have suggested.
We were able to get the back room for a group Prime Rib dinner at Mountain Quail Cafe.

Another night some of us got together for dinner at Three Times Restaurant. With just 3 sit down restaurants and 5 bar and grills, dinner can be a challenge during Tent Week. The upside is we all get to remember what life is like in a “small American town” and the good old days.   A recurring comment  “Its Quartzsite” helped to put it in perspective. 😁😁

A couple of us made it to the Ricky Nelson Tribute with his sons performing lots of oldies. The Peter Paul and Mary Tribute group was also a hit.
Quartzsite has so much to offer it is always hard to return to the big city. Marcy and I would like to encourage everyone to come out early and spend a couple of weeks honing your boon docking skills and visiting some of the many Escapees groups. Looking forward to seeing everyone next year.

THANKS MIKE AND MARCY FOR HOSTING. IT WAS SO MUCH FUN !!
