News updates

July 4th on Red Beach   (from Doris K)     Smiley

The outing  at Red Beach went very well.  Sharon & David Gladding were co-hosts & provided most of the breakfast goodies.  Ed Kalenda took care of the coffee.  George & Wilda Bass  & Steve & Nena Kemp were the other Shanty Shaker campers.  We met for Happy Hour each afternoon & enjoyed a fire each evening thanks to George Bass.  David & Sharon enjoyed surf fishing & caught several nice fish.  We  enjoyed walks on the beach.  The weather was very pleasant in spite of being overcast part of each day.  Sorry we don't have any pictures.  Doris

Just a little Infomercial about CARE from Ken and Sue Pace

Trekking to Texas and Back
No mini rangs going on in Livingston, TX. It's too HOT and Humid! But we sure enjoyed getting there. We took a week and stopped at many tourist sights, National Monuments, Military Bases, Indian Towns (Tombstone), State Capital Austin, and Presidential Libraries, Johnson and G. Bush. We would have seen even more enticing sites but our goal was to arrive at CARE for June 1st and stay till the 31st. While there we had our fill of heat and humidity, but the friendships we found at CARE and the fun we had helping with all the chores, was well worth a month of volunteering, and dealing with the heat.
We had a "reunion" with our RV friend and member of the Shanty Shakers,Chapter 25, Mr. Ed Sainz. He is one of the newer residents of CARE. He was delighted to have visitors from home and we chatted with him every day at meals.
CARE has a wonderful staff right now, who are very caring, and bound and determined to make CARE a HOME.  The goal is to help residents feel right at home and give them lots of flexibility to control their own lives.
There are jobs for everyone. Our team of 12 worked well together sharing the chores, and helping out wherever needed. A lot of new friendships were made too.
VOLUNTEERING AT CARE IS A CARING THING TO DO!  Call to book your month or two and let them know when you will be coming. (936-327-5685) Talk to Crystal the secretary, Tom the volunteer coord. or Russ the director. They are waiting for your call.
We will be showing an Info-mercial on "Working at CARE" at the Pace Theater in Quartzsite/Boomerville. Any questions about volunteering,  call us at 760-445-8196
