Greetings from Escapades in Sedalia, MO

Escapades wrapped up today and what a blast it was! Five couples from the Shanty Shakers attended and shared several meals together (we love going out to eat don't we?). We learned about fire saftey, tire monitoring, controlling odors, maintenance, space and storage tips, cooking, insurance, saftey on the road, trip planning and GPS navigation, photo storage /organization and so much more. We enjoyed some great entertainment, burned our tongues at the chile cookoff, climbed into new rigs on display, saw a pet parade and experienced a million HUGS!!

                                                                                                    Group Hug Smiley

Gene and Annette Stout represented Chapter 25 on "The Row" and met lots of fellow Escapees.

Bill and Jeanne Parrish worked at the Escapee Products booth and had fun giving away decals and patches. The new Escapees lanyards were a big hit.

Rey and Loretta Armstrong were part of the Awesome Parking Team by braving 90* heat one day followed by a chilling 50* rain the next day.  They helped to park the 574 rigs in attendance. Wow !

Don and Tracey B. recently joined the Shakers and enjoyed checking out numerous seminars. While in Sedalia they were able to visit some relatives too. Nice !

Lynn and Wayne Selden attended their first Escapade and were impressed by everyone’s happy faces and friendliness. They recommend to attend an Escapade if you haven’t done so yet

The next Escapade is in Gillette, Wyoming  June 30-July 5, 2013.  Hope to see you there !

August breakfast meeting

I

It was a lively group at the monthly August breakfast meeting at Denny’s in El Cajon. We heard about member’s summer travels, both good  and bad experiences  (the Fosters highly recommend to have a surge protector if you don’t already have one) and we heard about future travel plans from several members including those planning to attend Escapades in SedaliaMissouri

For every meeting members bring new or gently used prizes and raffle tickets are sold. Winning ticket holders earn the opportunity to choose a prize. Money from the raffle goes into the chapter’s general fund. It’s a win-win and everyone has fun with it.

Fall is the time of year to begin planning for the annual election of officers. The current slate of officers has done an admirable job but many are ready to turn over their duties. If you have not yet assumed an active role in the chapter now is the time to step up be involved Be thinking about what YOU can do to continue the growth, friendships, and support the Shanty Shakers offer.
