Winter Blast Fireworks in Lake Havasu, AZ

The annual Winter Blast is a fireworks extravaganza. Spectacular colorful fireworks are displayed by firework professionals who show off the latest advances in their craft, culminating in a huge pyrotechnic show in the evening. We had the opportunity to park our motorhomes nearby in the Rodeo grounds of SARA park in Lake Havasu City, AZ. Most of us arrived on Monday afternoon, February 10. After we got set up several of us walked to the food truck to check it out. As we walked back we were surprised to see something in the sky but soon discovered it was a SpaceX Starlink missile launch. AMAZING TO WATCH !!

The next day, Tuesday, we planned to go to the Havasu Elks for Taco Tuesday. Everyone made it except the Seldens who forgot about the time difference (1 hour later than San Diego) and ended up not being ready in time.  Afterwards some members went to the see the London Bridge and enjoyed a boat ride on the river to see the new casino.

On Wednesday, we enjoyed the sunny but still cool day. In the evening we were invited to have happy hour and pizza at the clubhouse of the mobile home park where Tom and MaryAnn Cathey now reside. So nice to see them again!

We woke up to rain on Thursday. Many stayed in their warm and cozy rigs, playing cards, reading or napping. The soup and salad lunch potluck was cancelled due to the weather. A few braved going out to explore antique shops. By nightfall the rain had stopped and we had a glimpse of the first fireworks during a time called "open shoot".

By Friday morning the RV parking area was filling up and buzzing with activity. Guests Geri and Pete Herold, avid bikers and hikers, went for an 18 mile ride along the river. They actually could still walk after the ride.  Bobbie and Sherry, along with Dan and Chris gathered to have the soup and salad lunch planned for the day before. The Seldens went out for a special Valentines Day "linner" (lunch/dinner). We were treated to an hour of amazing fireworks that night while sitting around the propone campfire for warmth.

Saturday was an eventful day. They held a Cowboy Barbeque on the Rodeo Grounds. It was like a giant outdoor picnic with a bar and a band playing. We had a choice of grilled chicken or tri-tip, along with cowboy beans, salad and garlic bread. Lip smacking good !

The main event of fireworks display Saturday night did not disappoint. One of the highlights was the drone display of the DeLorean. You had to be there to really appreciate it but hope this video gives you a hint of how cool it was. (taken by Lynn. Sorry for the added comments)

Steve and Susan Penacho walked closer to the launch area and got some outstanding pictures. Thanks for sharing them !

WE HAD A FUN TIME. IF YOU MISSED IT, WATCH FOR 2026 WINTER BLAST NEXT YEAR!
