Quartzsite, AZ

Every January we can count on the annual event in Quartzsite, Arizona to be unusual in some ways and the same ol, same ol in other ways. During the week before, during, and after the Big Tent/ RV show, many Shanty Shakers came and left. The main gathering was at Greasewood dry camp with the sounds of trucks and sirens passing by. The  attraction of this site is the ability to walk through the wash under the freeway to all the activities. By walking, one is limited to how much "stuff" one can carry back....probably be a good thing ! One thing to count on is Happy Hour !

Due to unusual circumstances, the group was not displaying our chapter sign nor did we have a our fire pit. So, one of the first duties of the newly elected chapter president, Wayne, was to build a duraflame ground fire, with paper plates as kindling. Hey, it gave off the warmth we were seeking when the coolness of night arrived after the gorgeous sunset !

What a nice surprise it was for Dortha and Mark Hall, the Escapees Chapter Directors, to stop by one of our Happy Hours to introduce themselves. They had nothing but compliments for Chapter 25, from the regularly scheduled activities, number of members in the chapter and for keeping up a presence on the web (Chapter blog, Facebook, RVillage and Escapees Chapter page). Thanks Dortha and Mark !

After starting off with  the Solo BOF group camping out in the boonies, we enjoyed having our 3 solo women, Cindy, JJ and Lila join us at Greasewood. And, don't forget our other faithful solo, Don S ! Its nice to know they feel welcome !
Were they really serving Alligator and Shark on a stick, Butterfly Potato chips and Deep Fried PB & J sandwiches?? If you tried any of these items, please do let us know !

Until next year !!
